International Faculty of Lecturers
Mr. Peter Tashjian (P1)
has a BS in business from Bentley College in Massachusetts , a JD in Law from New England School of Law in Boston and a MIM in Management from the American Graduate School of International Management in Arizona . Tashjian is the CEO of the Institute of Compliance Officers (ICO), Managing Director of the Professional Development (IPD), and the former CEO of the Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries (HKICS). He has been teaching commercial law to students and practitioners in universities since 1985. He is also a former adjunct professor of the Australian Graduate School of Management MBA programme in Hong Kong .
Mr. Allan Yeung (P2)
is a FCCA & FCPA. He also holds BBA and MBA Degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong . Allan was the Assistant Professor in the Department of Accountancy, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Senior Manager in the Learning & Education Department of PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Training Director of Arthur Andersen. He has extensive teaching experience in Financial Reporting and Management Accounting subjects both in Hong Kong and China . He was involved in the “Train the Trainers” program organized by ACCA – Shanghai .
Mr. Guna Kumarasamy
(P3) holds a wide array of professional qualifications including ICSA, CIMA, and also an MBA from Henley Management College , UK . He joined the lecturing profession in 1980 and has lectured in many countries including the United Kingdom , Russia , Bulgaria , Azerbaijan , China , Hong Kong , Malaysia and Singapore . He has taught at a leading UK College for five years as well as at the University of North London and Thames Valley University .

About the ACCA Qualification
The ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification provides you with a sound base on which to build a career in finance or related areas. As an ACCA trainee, you will develop a wide range of skills, giving you an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, management techniques and IT, enabling you to work in any area of finance and creating a world of opportunities for your future. The ACCA also offers a truly global qualification in that students can choose, in some papers, to be examined using international accounting and auditing standards. There are worldwide variants of papers in tax and law, including China . This means that your ACCA qualification is truly portable, enabling you to live and work in many countries around the world.
Duration
The ACCA's flexible structure means that the course may be completed in a minimum of two years, or up to a maximum of ten years. The ACCA Examinations are held in June and December.
Entry Requirements
Students require one or more of the following:
- A Degree from a recognised university
- A Polytechnic Diploma/FTMS Diploma
- Association of Accounting Technician (UK) or ACCA Certified Accounting Technician (UK) qualifications
- Two ‘A' level/STPM and three ‘O' level/SPM passes (5 distinct and separate subjects) or their equivalent
- Three LCCI Higher and two LCCI Intermediate passes (5 separate subjects including English and Maths)
- Mature Students Entry Route (MSER) - Available for applicants who do not hold any qualifications but are above 21 years old and have a good grasp of English Language & Mathematics. The student will be allowed to register and will be given 2 years (a maximum of 4 consecutive attempts) to pass Papers F2 and F 3 in the Fundamental [Knowledge] Level.
Regulations
The ACCA qualification consists of 2 main levels - Fundamental and Professional. Students are required to pass 14 papers in total. In ACCA Fundamental Levels and Professional Level - Essentials, students can sit for up to four papers of their choice at any one sitting, subject to certain progression rules. In Professional Level - Options, students can choose two subjects from a list of four options to match their work experience or chosen fields of employment. The three Professional Level - Essentials papers must be passed before students can sit for Professional Level - Options papers. No papers in any level are required to be taken at once.
Examinations
ACCA Examinations are held twice a year in June and December.
Exemptions
Holders of recognised business and/or accounting diplomas/degrees will be considered for exemptions from some of the ACCA papers in the Fundamental Levels. Students with non-relevant degrees (including mathematics and economics) will not receive any exemptions from the ACCA examinations. Other higher qualifications, including professional qualifications, will be assessed for exemption from the new scheme using the above policies as benchmarks. However, there will be no exemptions from any Professional Levels papers. Exemptions are awarded by ACCA. Please contact ACCA at info@accaglobal.com regarding this matter.

Career Opportunities
Successful completion of the ACCA professional examination with relevant working experience will enable graduates to become Chartered Certified Accountants, use the designatory letters ACCA, and work in any aspect of finance and business, often in senior management positions. Graduates can work as auditors, tax consultants and accountants. |
